Aspen's Shopping Scene

When I think of fashion in Aspen I think of piles of fur, over the top skiwear and the occasional adorable hippie. There’s big money there and because of that there is a Dior, Gucci, Burberry and Ralph Lauren on every corner. Bo-ring.

But while I was in town covering Aspen Fashion Week, I found some stores that are more apropos of the rustic old ski town - and aimed at people who enjoy clothes for more than just the label they bear. Here are our top three faves.

The Story:

Former art gallery owner Sarah and her husband, a former snowboard shop owner Eric Lippincott opened up Gallerie five years ago and Aspen has been thankful ever since. A well-curated store of men’s and women’s clothing and accessories, it has been fondly called the Colette of Aspen. We were lucky enough to pop in when Project Runway superstar Christian Siriano was hosting a trunk show and local women were scooping up his dresses and coats. Not a couple to sit on their laurels, Sarah and Eric have launched their own line, Gray. A collection for both men and women, they were both eager to design pieces they thought were missing in their store. Gray will be sold exclusively at Gallerie for now.
